goosebumps & glory
by K. L. Øpstad
goosebumps & glory by K. L. Øpstad is a sole proprietorship and serves as the "writing production company" of Kristoffer Løset Øpstad. It was founded in 2022, but its history goes way back.
Even as a child, I discovered that I liked to write, and the writing assignments in Norwegian and English in school were sometimes continued after school. In junior high and high school, I started writing for the screen as a hobby, and I wrote my first TV pilot.
I still have no idea how I got into screenwriting. In a village in Western Norway with maybe 600 inhabitants, on a farm with a linear TV of maybe 24 inches and with the nearest proper cinema on the other side of a fjord, there were no good reasons why I should start screenwriting, but for one reason or the other I did it and I loved it!
Despite my love for writing, "life happened," and studies, family, and work meant that for many, many years, I wrote very little. So, after a decade or two(!) of little writing, it was time to face my fear of failure; I got more serious about writing than ever and loved it like never before!
With this website, I hope to share a bit of my journey with you and hope that you can also enjoy some of what I have created, whether it's stories for children, young people, or adults, on paper or on screen.

People like to talk about different authors having their own "voice." I don't know if I can define my voice completely, but I...
...often have nature as an important element in what I write, either that large parts of the action take place outdoors or that it is there as a backdrop for the plot.
...tend to end up with sexuality as one of several underlying themes. (When I'm writing for older audiences and not children's books, that is.) There is rarely a lot of sex in my scripts, but there can be a lot of sensuality and a debate between the lines about the body, beauty, and sexuality and also about society's norms and values related to this.
...likes to set up complex, atypical characters that clash with each other. For example, a sexy, atheistic poacher and a Christian park ranger and widower are cast as leads in a feature film. (Yes, I'm working on it...)
...has worked with young people all my life, and writing action adventures for young adults is perhaps what I do best. And often with a romantic B-story. (But surely we all do, right...?)
...aim to write both #goosebumps and #glory, stories with emotions and reason, leaving you with something for both your head and your heart.
